How to Refresh Your Beauty Routine This Fall

Fall might be the season where nature starts to prepare to go to sleep, but it can be a season of renewal and rejuvenation for you. And for your beauty routine, so should it be, as the changing weather conditions and the overall changing atmosphere require us to refresh our skincare and makeup to adapt them to the new season. If you are looking for tips on how to do just that, here are a few for you.

Skincare for the colder weather

As said, your skincare routine should not be the same all year round. Different temperatures and different weather conditions affect our skin differently, which is why it’s important to switch to your fall skincare routine once the summer months are over. In the summer, your main focus was probably sun protection – you should keep this part of your routine as applying SPF throughout the entire year is essential. What you want to change is upgrade your face cream for something that will be able to deal with the dryness caused by the wind and prevent your skin from looking dull and flaky. Besides a thick moisturizer (or even a face oil!), you might also want to add an antioxidant serum to your morning routine to give your skin an extra boost. To combat under-eye bags that are bound to appear as soon as we return to work after our vacation, try an undereye mask that is all the rage right now.

A more subtle vibe in your makeup

A new season is a great time to try something new, so if you are someone who likes to wear bold hues throughout the summer, fall might be a great time to tone it down with some neutral hues instead. Some beauty editors advocate the use of brown or bronze eyeliner instead of black for a softer effect. Pair this with some good old smoky eye, but not in a too dramatic way, with the use of warm brown shades – reddish browns are very popular right now so if you haven’t used it before, try it out, and combine it with champagne colors. When it comes to your lipstick, matte is the way to go in the fall. If you feel bold, go for red or oxblood lipstick to balance out your simple eye makeup.

Nourish your lips

When the fall weather hits, many of us end up with dry, chapped lips that ruin our entire makeup look. So, before that happens, make sure you nourish your lips to the max. Start with a good lip scrub to remove those dead skin cells, and if you are planning on wearing the aforementioned matte lipstick, make sure you hydrate your lips with a natural lip balm. If you are a fan of all things fall, you can go for a pumpkin spice lip balm that will keep your lips supple while making you crave a delicious pumpkin spice latte.

Bring life to your nails

In the summer, you might skip on nail polish as you will be swimming a lot and the color would not last anyway. However, when fall arrives, you can enrich your nail care collection with a few quality natural nail polish products to celebrate the season. If the cold weather is wreaking havoc not only on your skin but your nails too, make sure you go for an anti-breakage base coat to give your nails strength. When it comes to colors, you have absolute freedom, but if you want to get in the mood for fall, warm hues such as shiny copper, deep orange or unrivaled burgundy shades should be your go-to. After applying your nail polish, make sure you always take care of your cuticles too, especially if they are suffering as well. Do away with dryness and an unsightly appearance by applying a good, nourishing cuticle cream regularly, and your hands will be ready for the fall!

A little extra care for your hair

Our hair gets the short end of the stick when it’s cold and dry out, so giving it a bit of extra nourishment is worth your while. Especially if you have colored hair or if you’ve spent the entire summer out in the sun, your hair might be damaged and not as shiny as it used to be. You can help it lock in moisture by using a leave-in conditioner after you wash your hair – this will add an extra layer of protection. You can apply a hair mask once in a while to enjoy extra soft and strong strands, too.

Fall is a great time to review and adjust our beauty routines. With the aforementioned tips, your skin, lips, hair, nails and makeup should all be ready for the fall season!
