Ashley Tisdale’s yellow Celine leather handbag

I was trying to find the price for this yellow Celine bag that Ashley Tisdale was seen carrying while out shopping in Studio City California yesterday.

In the process I came across some forums where people were casually writing in asking questions about which of the micro mini or nano bags they should buy and what the difference is in price between the grained leather and the smooth leather and which bag they should get based on their height; and I thought to myself I should really go jump off a bridge and call it a day.

Okay so I didn’t really think that but seriously I stopped into a Payless store with someone the other day and I saw some cute bags but I couldn’t get even one and they were less than $20. Meanwhile there are people who can just pick up a $3000 handbag on a whim.

Yellow seems to be a hot color for bags right now.

Ashley Tisdale was seen sporting the below Celine Yellow Citron Mini Luggage Bag

Ashley Tisdale's yellow Celine leather handbag

While looking up the price of this bag (I didn’t find this bag exactly but other colors and the price seems to be about $2600) I also came across some replicas that look almost identical. The funny thing about the replicas I came across was they had ridiculously high price tag as well. Personally if I’m still going to be paying hundreds of dollars anyway I can’t see any value in going for a replica. Might as well delay your gratification and save up to buy the real thing even if the real thing is 3 times more expensive than the expensive replica.

Speaking of replicas I came across a website that claims to be selling authentic Celine bags in the $350 price range. The website is celinedeals.com. The bags look like the real deal but come on there is no way anybody is going to sell authentic bags for $350 when people will still flock to buy them for $1000 considering $1000 is still a huge bargain for bags that cost $2500 and up. Such a shame when people try to rip you off. I think they would be better off admitting outright that the bags are replicas. Assuming the actual bags look anything like the pictures then people who buy replicas would still buy the bags anyway provided the company is legit. So why lie?

As for Ashley Tisdale and her bag we can all assume hers is a 100% authentic Celine bag. And it’s not the only Celine bag she owns. What a life it must be when you can buy any number of Celine bags your heart desires. Not that I sit around everyday wishing I could buy any number of Celine bags my heart desires. I do know that money isn’t everything and having 100 designer bags in my closet won’t guarantee me happiness. Things can excite you but they can’t talk to you. If you’re feeling sad pulling out your Celine bags and throwing them on your bed and jumping in the bed with them and holding them close to you will not take your sadness away. Not unless you have serious psychological issues.

This bag was also seen being carried by Miley Cyrus on a number of different occasions.

Miranda Kerr’s pink Louis Vuitton handbag

Miranda Kerr's pink Louis Vuitton handbag

How lucky is Miranda Kerr? She’s all kinds of gorgeous and rich enough to step out of her house wearing Isabel Marant Miu Miu Cartier Alexander Wang and Louis Vuitton all at the same time. She was recently photographed leaving a studio in New York following a photoshoot looking as cute as she always does.

As usual her bag was center stage. She does seem to love to show off her extensive bag collection doesn’t she? Not criticizing her for this. Just saying. If the girl loves her bags good for her.

Her bag of choice on this occasion was a pink Louis Vuitton crossbody bag. The exact bag (the Louis Vuitton patent leather Monceau BB crossbody bag in pink) comes with a $1,720 price tag. It’s a bag for girls who were born with a face like Miranda Kerr’s. You know those girls–the ones to whom life hands everything, starting with wiring their DNA so they will be prettier than average taller than average have more self control than the average person in order to maintain skinnier than average body size. And in addition give them the great personalities and the loads of confidence they will need to be able to go out into the world and secure exciting careers that pay them millions of dollars just for being effervescent and beautiful.

Here’s the Indian Rose version of the pink Louis Vuitton handbag

Louis Vuitton pink patent leather Monceau BB crossbody bag

Her Louis Vuitton shoulder bag was used to accessorize a simple yet stylish outfit comprised of a $235 white Isabel Marant tank top (Otona backless linen tank), and a $96 skirt from Topshop (Blurry Floral Print Maxi Skirt),.

Her other accessories included a pair of Miu Miu cateye sunglasses a Cartier bracelet which she seemed either to have taken off at some point or put on at a later point because there are pictures of her with a bracelet on and pictures in the same outfit the same day with no bracelet.  I know–who cares? That’s what you’re thinking right?

The bracelet looks like the yellow gold version of the Cartier Juste Un Clou nail bracelet which I have read “start at just under $3k and go to almost $35″,000”. So if you like you might have to go for a “Cartier inspired” version such as the one available via Etsy.com for $34 (check out the replica version),

Cartier Juste Un Clou nail bracelet yellow gold

She’s also sporting many rings on her fingers” some earrings in her ears and some gold necklaces around her neck. They are all probably also super expensive

Her shoes were a pair of $595 ALEXANDER WANG Tan Leather Lux Anjelika Heeled Sandals.

These are the perks that come with being beautiful. Of course there are other ways to get to the point in life where you can afford to buy anything you want. You can be super talented and make your multi millions off your talent or you can be super smart and make your multi millions off your smarts; but you have to be super something. Otherwise keep dreaming.

I wonder–can someone who is super stupid take their super stupidity and turn it into millions of dollars? Probably not because they’d have to be smart enough to know how to do it; which would mean they aren’t in fact super stupid but rather super smart. Oh well….

Rihanna’s Chanel show ensemble during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week

Let’s talk about Rihanna for a minute. Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week is long and gone and every fashion blogger on the planet has probably already said everything there is to be said about that outfit Rihanna wore — you know the long sweater under which it appears she was totally naked.

Let me tell you what I like about Rihanna. She doesn’t care what you or I think. And why should she? Who are we that our opinions about her should in any way impact on what she does in her life. Rihanna does what she wants to do regardless if it’s something she knows people are going to frown upon. She seems to fully recognize the pointlessness in someone trying to live their life expressly to gain the approval of other people. I have to give her props for that. Do they use that terminology anymore? Giving props?

It seems there are a lot of people who don’t approve of Rihanna. They don’t like her attitude apparently. Personally I respect people who don’t put on a front when it public. You know they act all sweet and well behaved and incapable of uttering a bad word; but behind closed doors they are as raucous as they come. I respect Rihanna for being herself. She’s not going to pretend with you. What you see is what you get. Take it or leave it. Like it or hate it. It’s your business. Not hers. She’s a no nonsense kind of girl. If her personality rubs you the wrong way it’s not because there’s something wrong with the way she acts. It’s because you don’t like the way she acts. And you have a right not to like it; but that doesn’t make her behavior right or wrong. We’re all different and every personality type is as legitimate as the other. Someone doesn’t have to be and act a certain way to make you happy any more than you have to be and act a certain way to make them happy.

Now with that all out of the way let’s talk about Rihanna’s outfit that she wore to the Chanel show during Paris Haute Couture fashion week. Can you say daring? I know some people think Rihanna went a little too far. I mean it looks like she didn’t wear anything underneath the full body length button front sweater she wore for a dress; but if anyone can pull off something so daring it is definitely Rihanna.

You can find pictures of the outfit via Google images
Rihanna Chanel pearl necklace cardigan outfit

She exemplifies that quote that so frequently gets attributed to Coco Chanel – “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different”. You can bet part of what makes Rihanna so popular whether you love her or hate her is the fact that she isn’t like everybody else. She doesn’t walk like everybody else. She doesn’t talk like everybody else. She doesn’t look like everybody else. She doesn’t act like everybody else. Having a gorgeous face and a killer body also doesn’t hurt.

Miranda Kerr vs Paris Hilton TopShop Daisy print cut-out dress

7713912

Miranda Kerr wore this Topshop daisy print cut-out dress the other day. She looked ridiculously cute as usual buried behind big dark sunglasses strutting in a pair of Isabel Marant The Caleen studded leather concealed wedge boot and toting a black leather Givenchy Antigona Shiny Lord Bag.

I’ve seen reports that the price of Miranda Kerr’s Topshop Daisy print cut-out tea dress is $46. Totally affordable right? Well still not for me but my poverty is a special case. $46 is definitely affordable for most women making some kind of income; I’m not sure if those sites claiming the dress is $46 are making a mistake or if the dress might have been on sale at the time they were claiming the price of the dress was $46. I’ve found the dress on the topshop website listed at $92.00; but unfortunately it is presently sold out (link to dress at topshop.com),.

It’s a cute dress. Paris Hilton wore the same dress some days after Miranda was photographed in it so I’m guessing she was inspired by Miranda Kerr’s look. She also wore similar sunglasses; but she went for a different look in shoes. Whereas Miranda Kerr wore her TopShop Daisy print cut-out dress with a pair of black leather Isabel Marant The Caleen studded leather concealed wedge boots” Paris wore hers with a pair of Christian Louboutin Astrogirl 120 mm black hot pink red gold white mesh detail pumps.

Who do you think wore the dress better of the two?

Who wore the dress better of the two ladies?

      100%

Personally I prefer Miranda’s overall look to Paris’s. I don’t like the Christian Louboutin Astrogirl 120 mm black hot pink red gold white mesh detail pumps with the dress. I also prefer Miranda Kerr’s bag to Paris Hilton’s. I don’t necessarily like the sunglasses on either of the ladies. I do prefer the fit of the dress on Paris.

Would I wear this dress myself? Probably if it was knee length and didn’t have the cut-out details. I wouldn’t wear it on a windy day though. Hopefully neither lady was silly enough to go out wearing a flighty dress while wearing no underwear. Doesn’t look like it would take much of a breeze to blow up the skirt of the dress; and the public could use a break from seeing these famous ladies’ bare butts  and private parts. If you’re going to wear a short dress put on panties ladies. The things these women can get away with….

Do you need a designer life to go with your designer clothes?

I decided to do some virtual shopping today; but as I was browsing through stylebop.com’s collection of tops looking for a few tops I would buy if I could it occurred to me that it would be silly for me to have a designer wardrobe when I don’t have the life to go with it.

So I decided to title this post “Do you need a designer life to go with your designer clothes?”

What I mean by that question is do you need to be living the high life in order to wear designer clothes? Are designer clothes just for people who attend boat parties and vacation in Cape Cod or the Hamptons? Are designer clothes just for people who can stroll into stores like Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Ave without it being immediately obvious that they totally can’t afford to shop there and that they had to save up for a whole year to afford whatever they might walk out of the store having bought?

Take this Catherine Malandrino acid green silk oversized top for example.

Catherine Malandrino acid green silk oversized top

Buy It!
I saw it and thought I wouldn’t mind having it in my closet to wear when I need an oversized top; but it’s a $245 blouse and I don’t usually go anywhere that calls for wearing a $245 blouse. I live in a small town and I pretty much have no life. I blog for a living though I’m not making any money with my blogs right now so it’s probably a stretch to say I blog for a living. Right now it’s more like I’m unemployed. I never have social functions to attend. The most I do is go out for a walk and go out to the store. And I walk to the store or take the bus if the store isn’t close enough to walk.

What business does someone who lives at my level have walking around wearing high end designer clothes? Not that I do. I don’t own anything that comes with a designer label; and I couldn’t buy the top even if I wanted to buy it; but let’s say I wanted it so badly that I saved up to afford it. I could probably manage to save up $245 and get this blouse in–let’s say 3 months; but how ridiculous would it be for me to be wearing a $245 top to go shopping in the local supermarket?

Better yet can you just see me strutting through the supermarket aisles decked out in a completely designer outfit comprised of the above Catherine Malandrino acid green silk oversized top” the below ALBERTA FERRETTI Wool Skirt with Back Ruffle ($490)” Sergio Rossi Leather Cutout Toe Stilettos in White/Black ($680)”,  Chanel vintage Gold-Plated Weave Round Clip Earrings ($1205)” and carrying the SALVATORE FERRAGAMO black Leather Sookie Tote bag ($1545) over my arm?

What kind of situation would it take for someone to barely be able to afford groceries but be decked out in $4″ 165 dollars worth of designer clothing and accessories while shopping for the groceries they can barely afford? I suspect if I had the means to afford a $4 165 outfit I would be living someplace where it’s basically de rigueur to have on thousands of dollars worth of stuff even at the supermarket.

Prada Acetate Baroque Gradient Sunglasses

Prada Acetate Baroque Gradient Sunglasses
These Prada Acetate Baroque Gradient Sunglasses are $290 which I guess means they are affordable not just to ladies with million dollar bank accounts; but for those in the middle income bracket as well. Unfortunately for me they are still way too expensive.

$9.99 is a lot for me to pay for sunglasses.

I would love to be able to afford expensive sunglasses. I see so many that I like; but I am a starving blogger. Well” I’m not literally starving because I do have a working spouse who is feeding me while I struggle to try to make something happen with my blogs.

So these sunglasses are from Prada. They are quite nice. The black version of these sunglasses has been seen on Beyonce and Kourtney Kardashian as well as other celebrities.

These are described as the “ultimate cool accessory for the sun”.

Prada Acetate Baroque Gradient Sunglasses

Probably the most hands-on I’ll ever get to a pair of these was the work I did in photoshop setting up a virtual pair to create the above picture.

Considering what designer sunglasses can cost $290 seems like an okay price. If I had the money I’d buy a pair. Why not? Sure it’s not really necessary to have $290 sunglasses; but if you have the money and you like the sunglasses what are you supposed to do stand on principle and decide not to buy it because of the frivolity that it represents? It’s got to be okay to indulge your materialistic desires from time to time.

Here are the black version of these sunglasses that Beyonce and Kourtney Kardashian were seen wearing.

Buy It!
The black ones are the same price: $290. The way things work Beyonce probably got hers for free. With her kind of money $290 is like $2.90 for me. Although if I were to be honest I’m really not in a position to call $2.90 nothing.

Kourtney Kardashian doesn’t have Beyonce’s money but she still has enough that $290 is also nothing for her to spend on a pair of sunglasses. She apparently has a net worth of about twelve million. Don’t know how accurate that is but she’s certainly a multi-millionaire.

It pays to be pretty doesn’t it? I used to think I was pretty; but now I’m starting to understand why no one else ever seemed to agree. It was because I wasn’t pretty. If I was as pretty as I used to believe I would be a multi-millionaire. Considering how little money I have I am tempted to think maybe the people I’ve encountered in my life who thought I was actually rather ugly might have been seeing me with the clear eyes. Ugly girls don’t get rich unless they happen to be talented. So it’s because I am ugly and talentless that I am poor. Oh well. Guess I’m doomed.

MAWI Rose Gold-Plated Flower Embellished Watchstrap bracelet in blue

MAWI Rose Gold-Plated Flower Embellished Watchstrap bracelet in blue

It’s the 4th of July. Independence Day in the USA. Quite by accident I am wearing a red shirt and a blue dress that I am using as a skirt for today. I am not wearing anything white but I am surrounded by white. There is a white bottle of Curel Daily Moisture Original Lotion for Dry Skin on my desk. There are white pieces of paper towel on my desk. There is white paper all around me on my left and right. There is white in front of me in the form or a window blind. There is white in the lottery tickets on the shelf on my right.

I played the lottery last night but I didn’t win anything. Oh well. I would be able to buy this MAWI Rose Gold-Plated Flower Embellished Watchstrap bracelet in blue from stylebop.com if I had won.

MAWI Rose-Gold-Plated Flower Embellished Watchstrap bracelet blue

Buy It!
It’s a cute bracelet. I certainly like it and wouldn’t mind having it in my jewelry collection (If I had such a thing); but I have to wonder about charging $645 for gold plated brass. I guess it’s the crystals that account for the high price; but crystals aren’t exactly diamonds. Then again if the crystals were diamonds the bracelet would probably cost $6450.

There’s a pink version of this bracelet. I like them both and would certainly have been able to afford them both had I won the lottery last night but I didn’t even win a free ticket. I know I shouldn’t waste money playing the lottery but sometimes I do. I never have any luck so you’d think I’d learn by now; but from time to time I have visions of Louboutins dancing in my head and I know I’ll never afford a pair in my lifetime unless I win the lottery. Although I have sort of made a declaration that by this time next year I will have bought my first pair of Louboutins.

The Pink Version

MAWI Rose Gold-Plated Flower Embellished Watchstrap bracelet in pink

Buy It!
I’ll be honest with you I don’t think it’s necessary for anyone to own a pair of Louboutins and I know that if I never own a pair in my lifetime it will amount to nothing in the larger scheme of things. A person would have to be seriously shallow to the point of it being a psychological problem to reach their death bed and look back on their life and mention as one of their deep regrets the fact that they never owned a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes.

I don’t generally think about Louboutin shoes or any other designer shoes and spend time wishing I owned some; but I do spend time thinking about financial security and being able to achieve the goals I set for myself and having the ability to buy designer shoes if I so chose. It does get frustrating when you realize you can’t even afford something that costs $64.50 much less to be able to afford something that costs $645 like the above bracelets. So for me the goal to own a pair of Louboutins by this time next year is more about making a success out of some one or the other of the many things I work on each day as I pursue the larger goal of financial security.

Would you use your rent money to buy designer clothes?

6355172013

I would need $5580 to get the above outfit. $5580 covers 4 months of rent with $80 left over. The above outfit costs the equivalent of 4 months rent. So would you use your rent money to buy designer clothes? I am sure there are women who have impulse shopped knowing they don’t have money and rent is coming up due. Personally I would never risk getting an eviction notice for the pleasure of being able to say I’m wearing $5580 worth of designer clothing and accessories. Not that I would ever have $5580 in hand to contemplate spending on clothes.

Back to the outfit…

The 100% silk black Rochas Crop Top is $635. The Ellery Thunder Pleat Front Shorts are $710. The Valentino Rockstud Flap Bag is $1395. The Eddie Borgo Helix Link Necklace is $500 and it is gold plated brass. The sunglasses are $410. The shoes which are totally gorgeous were $1 930 but they appear to be sold out at the moment. Maybe by the time you read this and you want them they will be available again but as of today they are sold out.

Like I said already I do not have $5580 so I cannot get this outfit. I cannot get a single item from this outfit and even if I could I probably wouldn’t have the confidence to wear this outfit. Some might even argue a woman over 30 shouldn’t dare consider this an outfit option.

Would you use your rent money to buy designer clothes?

I typed the above question into google but I didn’t come across anything interesting. It seems like most people have a little sense in their head and people using their rent money to buy designer clothes isn’t so common as to be a widely discussed topic on the Internet. What appears to be more commonly discussed is the question of whether or not renting designing clothes is worth it. Personally I once checked out the website Rent the Runway and I discovered that it’s really not for ordinary people who don’t have high end events to attend that would justify spending $200 to rent a dress that you only get to wear once. If I had $200 to spend on a dress I would prefer to use it to purchase something that I will own and be able to wear whenever I want.

What’s so wrong with wearing double denim?

What's so wrong with wearing double denim?

I was browsing on polyvore and came across a set featuring an outfit comprised of a denim mini skirt and a denim shirt. The set featured photos of Rihanna wearing a similar outfit. I wanted to see the outfit on Rihanna so I clicked through to view the set items in order to find the Rihanna photos.

Upon viewing the set in detail I was surprised to discover that the photos of Rihanna were accompanied by the headline “Double denim disaster!”. Frankly I don’t know how anyone could use the word “disaster” to describe anything Rihanna wears. She can make a potato sack look like haute couture; but apparently wearing double denim is considered a fashion faux pas or used to be?

Here is the set in question that featured Rihanna wearing “double denim”.

Double Denim 2

The set was created by Polyvore member author of www.blogbehindthelook.com

The article in which Rihanna’s outfit was described as a disaster was written by someone named Chelsea White for the London Daily Mail website. She starts out her article writing:

Move over Chris Brown Rihanna has a new love in her life – denim.

The singer stepped out in Beverly Hills California on Friday wearing an all denim look for a long day of shopping.

While it was unlikely anyone would not recognise the superstar Rihanna was clearly trying to have a Pretty Woman moment wearing a ripped denim skirt as if in an attempt to look like she did not belong in the expensive stores of the famed Rodeo Drive. (Read The full Article Here),

I seem to recall seeing a similar headline on this same website recently. It was associated with Victoria Beckham unless I’m mistaken and it was something to effect that only Victoria could effectively pull off a double denim look; so apparently it is not considered the height of style to wear denim with denim which brings me to my original question:

What’s so wrong with wearing double denim?

Apparently there was a period of time when some fashion person with access to enough minds decided to declare it a bad thing to wear denim with denim. You know how that sort of thing works. Probably some fashion editor who wrote for a popular magazine wrote some article about it denim on denim being a fashion faux pas and women all over the world just took it for gospel and stopped wearing more than one piece of denim apparel at the same time. And as these things go it became the rule that you just don’t wear denim with denim.

So all of a sudden celebrities start wearing denim with denim” almost as if some other fashion editor has overruled the decision of the previous editor and now it’s deemed okay to wear “double denim” . Not only is it deemed okay to wear double denim but it would appear to be the trend of the moment as multiple celebrities have been seen out and about in double denim outfits.

Back in 2006 someone wrote in on Yahoo Answers and asked:

Do you think it is ok to double-denim?

im not talking wearing a denim headband with jeans. i am talkin full on double deniming. examples: jean jacket with jeans jean jacket with jean skirt or shorts etc.

a full top and bottom denim article of clothing. is this okay in the fashion world or not?

The answers varied. The majority were against wearing double denim calling it a dated look and mentioning Irish girl bands from the 90s. The answer that was selected as the best answer:

absolutely not. it is way too 90s and the new style is all about mixing it up. if ur going to wear denim jeans throw on a casual jacket but dont double denim. (Source),

But as recently as 2010 it seems double denim was on it’s way to coming back into vogue” at least in Australia if not elsewhere. An article found on the website thepunch.com.au was headlined “Double denim – no longer a fashion crime”. In the article the author writes:

And so to the big question: is double denim which has for so long been considered the pinnacle of over-matched outdated bad taste worth re-visiting?

Or do you risk people not realising that you’re being all vintage/anti-fashion/out-there cool and instead assuming you’re such a dag you never actually stopped doing the look the first time round?

Personally I think the double denim trend belongs in the ‘’If you remember doing it the first time around avoid it this time” camp. (Source link),

So again I ask What’s so wrong with wearing double denim?

In the set at the top of the page denim shorts are paired with a denim shirt to create an outfit similar to the one being worn by Victoria’s Secret model Martha Hunt who recently stepped out to do some shopping wearing denim shorts and a denim. The items in the set include a Zara Asymmetric Denim Shirt and a pair of CURRENT/ELLIOTT Super Loved Boyfriend Destroy Shorts. The shoes are from Alejandro Ingelmo (the Kennedy in black patent),. The bag is from Meredith Wendell (the Raffia Circle Handbag),. The set also includes a set of Monochrome plastic bangles and a Black and White Yin and Yang Stretch Belt.
