Hey. What’s up? I’m here in the home office on a Friday afternoon browsing stock photos looking for gray clothing outfit ideas.
I’ve come across these pictures of a model in a gray pant suit which I think makes a good case for gray clothing being capable of replacing the go-to black clothing as safe to wear on any occasion.
Is gray subject to “in” trends?
I don’t think gray is an ‘in’ color right now, but who cares? These photos show how the color can be more interesting than black. If this was a basic black pant suit what would be so interesting about it? It would be typical. Who’s not accustomed to seeing a black pant suit? But this gray pant suit is anything but typical just by virtue of being gray. And worn with a top that is a contrasting shade of gray adds to the appeal.
Even a gray tank style dress is interesting just by virtue of being gray. In any of the typical colors this same dress looks like a basic. Nothing particularly eye-catching about it. But in the color gray the dress is more noticeable, because it’s less common.
Gray clothing is a great choice if you want to avoid the brighter colors on the spectrum but don’t want to go with white or black.
Black and white are about as basic as you can get. Of course both colors can be made interesting depending on what’s being worn and who’s wearing it. Not everyone likes to wear brighter colors like yellow, pink, red. And brown is probably even more avoided than gray.
Gray clothing is a good choice for those who want to avoid black and white but still want to wear a basic color that’s not bold and bright.
