It’s easy to forget the Cannes Film Festival has a purpose other than to showcase the fashions of the film industry’s most glamorous and beautiful women. Anytime you come across coverage of the Cannes Film Festival style is usually the focal point of the coverage. The fact that the festival is being helpd to preview films is of little interest to the general public.
The 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival has been underway since May 11 2012 and will continue into May 22nd 2016. And as usual the world’s rich and famous ladies of film and entertainment went out all to ensure they would standout.
Cannes Film Festival style watch 2016
Among the standout looks: Blake Lively showing off her early stage baby-on-board belly wearing a gorgeous blue gown on the red carpet for: “The BFG” – Red Carpet Arrivals
We love the color and style of Blake’s dress, although we have to say, long trains, while pretty, seem completely unnecessary and wasteful. People walk all over the red carpet in their shoes that have certainly touched dirtier ground.
Amal Clooney in a pretty pastel yellow one-shouldered, chiffon Atelier Versace gown attached to the arm of her hubby George Clooney. Amal Clooney also has a long train on her dress. It looks elegant no doubt but we can’t help wondering about the practicality of long trains on dresses. It mostly just seems pointless even if it looks lovely.
Eva Longoria attending ‘Cafe Society’ & Opening Gala
Eva was photographed on the red carpet upon arrival to the ‘Cafe Society’ & Opening Gala. She was wearing a Pamela Roland gown with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Brian Atwood shoes. Eva’s dress also has a train although it is not as elaborate a train as the train on Blake Lively’s dress. Even so it’s still cloth dragging behind her as she walks which just seems (a little ridiculous?)
Anna Kendrick on the ‘Trolls’ red carpet
Alongside Justin Timberlabke, Anna Kendrick does the requisite posing on the red carpet for the previewing of the film “Trolls“. She’s wearing a Stella McCartney Marigold (deep yellow) Gown. Hers is another gown with a train which by this point we’ve concluded we find silly (not the dress, just train on dresses in general. Makes for a nice photo but a pain and a hazard in reality.). Love Anna’s Bulgari Jewelry.
