I have started my green sequin satin dress project.
I started making the green sequin satin dress yesterday. So far I’m satisfied with my progress; but I did have quite a bit of frustration to deal with in getting to this point in the process.
I still have a ways to go to actually finish the dress. I haven’t yet done any sewing on the sewing machine. Everything has been hand-sewn to this point.
And I still have to figure out how to do the overlay part of the design. Right now I’m thinking I’ll probably just leave that off; but if I can figure out how to do it that would be great because then I can get the dress to look a little closer to the actual design.

My main area of frustration with this green sequin satin dress that I’m trying to make is the sequins fabric.

I don’t think I made the best choice in selecting the fabric for the sequin part. The sequins are too big. Some of them refuse to lie down flat. Some refuse to stay facing the right side, and they just keep falling out.
But as frustrating as it was to get to this point in the process, at least I can see a dress taking shape and I believe I should be able to finish it if not by this weekend then surely by next weekend. I’ll have to make a number of adjustments to fit my body. I’m much shorter than Justine (the mannequin). I’m also smaller in some places and bigger in others so anything I make on her I have to modify once it’s done to make it a better fit on me; but she still works well as a stand-in.
Anyone who has any suggestions for how I can do the poufy overlay part of the dress as shown in the below design, I welcome your feedback. Just drop me a comment.
