I received this black faux leather jacket as a gift. The green sweater I purchased from H&M last week.
I was curious how a red blouse might look under my green sweater. Luckily I had this red blouse in my closet. The burgundy skinny jeans just seemed like the right choice for this outfit idea. And to finish the look, I went with my black faux leather jacket and my go to winter boots.
This outfit won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Some people would never wear a red blouse under a green sweater. But I figure if mother nature thinks red and green are good enough for her to mix when making some of the world’s most beautiful flowers, I’ll take my cues from her.
Q& A Intermission
Q: How do you define style?
A: I define style as a person’s individual way of dressing. I don’t think it makes a whole lot of sense to suggest that someone doesn’t have a sense of style. That implies that style is one thing or another. But to me your style should be unique to you and my style should be unique to me. I shouldn’t feel compelled to criticize the way you dress as if I think my opinion of what’s stylish and what’s not applies across the board to everyone. It doesn’t. No one’s opinion about style applies across the board, including the people who get to dictate style, namely fashion designers and fashion magazine editors.
Q: How would you describe your personal style?
A: I don’t think I have any one particular way of dressing that can be classified as being my style. I like to dress up as much as I like to keep things simple and laid back. Comfort is critically important to me so generally I like to dress in comfortable clothes. I can’t tolerate tight and clingy things for too long. I go for the roomy t-shirt or sweater over the clingy top. But it really all depends on my mood, where I’m going, how long I’m going to be there and who’s going to be around. I think these things factor in for most women when they’re deciding what to wear.
