Gregana was kind enough to do a Q&A with My Fashion Wants in which she answered our questions about how she balances being a pre-law student and having a day to day job with running a fashion blog; why she started her fashion blog, what she considers the assets necessary for aspiring fashion bloggers to possess and more.

The Q & A

What made you decide to start a fashion blog?

I’ve always loved fashion. When I was a little girl, I would constantly go into my mom’s closet and try on her highest pair of designer heels… and then of course fall. I think growing up in Europe definitely played a huge role in my love for fashion because helloo Paris, Milan, London… need I say more? Throughout my life, I’ve always maintained some connection to the fashion industry. In high school I modeled quite often, however I had to leave my modeling career behind in order to continue with my educational career. My desire to start a fashion blog really started my first year in college when I noticed something missing in my life, and that was fashion. So long story short, I started my fashion blog during my sophomore year in college.

When you started your fashion blog what was the goal you wanted to achieve and have you achieved that goal or are you still working towards it?

My only goal when I started my blog was to have fun with it and enjoy the journey.

What would you say are the key assets necessary to possess in order
to succeed as a fashion blogger?

Confidence, consistency and authenticity.

You’re a pre-law student. And you mentioned in your post “Striped Out” from September 21 2014, that you were starting a new job. Do you find it difficult to keep up with blogging because of your other academic and vocational obligations?

Yes, it is very difficult. However, it’s not impossible, especially if you enjoy doing everything your working hard at. It’s all about time management and prioritization. I’ve always been the type of person to be involved in like 10 things at once, I hate just sitting at home and not being productive. I mean you only live once right? Make it worth it.

Do you work with the same photographer for all your photo shoots? And how important would you say it is for a blogger to feel comfortable with her chosen photographer?

I mostly work with the same photographer, but I also love working with new photographers! It changes things up and I like that. As a fashion blogger, being comfortable with your photographer is essential in producing images that speak to who you are. I’ve always felt very comfortable in front of the camera and I think that having some modeling experience prior to starting my blog definitely helped with that. When you’re comfortable, so is your photographer and believe me, it will make your images 100% better when you’re yourself.

On a lighter note

Is there anything in your closet that you wear more often than you wear anything else?

Oh yessss, black skinny jeans. I have like 15 pairs.

You have described yourself as a shopaholic who wakes up thinking about shopping and would rather buy clothes than food (from your August 2, 2014 post titled “10 Signs You’re a Shopaholic“). How much would you estimate you spend on clothes each year?

Too much. Wayyy too much. I really don’t even want to calculate it because I’ll probably cry.

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve ever purchased?

A pair of Christian Louboutin platform pumps. They’re gorgeous but impossible to walk in so I just admire them in my closet every time I walk by.

Hello, I'm Adela Lewis aka singer songwriter Adelamonica. I am the founder, creative director, editor in chief and main writer for First let me say, I myself cringe at some of the things I've written on this blog which I started in 2012 (including what I'm writing now). It is completely embarrassing to realize how miserably I've been failing to hide the fact that I lack sophistication, and often times lack enlightenment on very basic topics. I wish I had never written half the things I've written on here, but I did write them. In my defense, I'm human. There is much I do not know about anything and sometimes we have to make mistakes in order to learn and grow. To be clear, I am just a regular person who enjoys writing, modeling, and doing things that make me happy and keep me actively engaged in living and being . I refer to myself as "editor in chief" and "creative director" because, owning the blog as I do and being the one who creates and edits the content (with the exception of content submitted by third party contributors), I feel that I have the freedom to do so. Via this blog, I am contributing my personal thoughts and ideas and beliefs on everyday topics of discussion--at times topics on which I am not particularly well informed, but about which I might still have a point of view--much like most other people on the planet . The things I write should be regarded in the light of diary/journal style and essay style writings, reviews and reports exploring the topics I attempt to discuss. Please recognize that I have no academic or other professional credentials and I do not represent my points of view as carrying any weight or having anything of significant value to contribute to serious discussions held by experts on any topic featured. I apologize in advance for any errors major or minor that I make in my writing (I have made some embarrassing errors), anything I write that can be perceived as an offense or that is otherwise insensitive or needlessly critical and disparaging of any person. I am a work in progress and committed to striving to live consciously in a spirit of light and love. It does not mean I will not sometimes act and write in contradiction of that goal.
