As seen on Amber Rose, this shoulder pad hoodie – would you wear it?

About the hoodie: It’s from the label Vetements. It reads ‘May the Bridges I Burn Light The Way’. It comes with a $1,050 price tag. You can it find via a number of online retail outlets that specialize in high end merchandise, including mytheresa.com.

Description from mytheresa.com:

“Channel a grungy, urban-cool mood with this avant-garde hoodie from VETEMENTS. Printed with a poignant, no-nonsense phrase in fiery red, and finished with oversized, detachable shoulder pads this piece makes a bold statement. Taking the quote from cult TV series Beverly Hills, 90210, this cosy must-have is full of ’90’s flavour. Team yours with leather boots for a rebelliously cool look straight off the runway.”

On her Instagram Amber has some pictures posted where she’s wearing the sweatshirt and it looks pretty hot. But the general feeling for the shoulder pad hoodie after watching the video is not all that enthusiastic.

Here are some opinions from around our global office

Monica’s take on the shoulder pad hoodie

Hmm- I’m not really sure. I have nothing against Amber Rose but I’m not necessarily loving the shoulder pad hoodie look. It looks a little bit Herman Monster to me. I’d wear the sweatshirt without the shoulder pads but not with it.

Char’s take on the shoulder pad hoodie

It is a nice color, but looks like it belongs on a football player. Hoodies should not have shoulder pads. Shoulder pads were a fad and should never be given a second thought again. It is not flattering in my opinion.

Mari’s take on the shoulder pad hoodie:

Yay. Love the color on her. Not sure about the shoulder pads for myself but hey, on Amber it works.

Hilily’s take on the shoulder pad hoodie

Amber Rose has a such a great curvy figure. Seeing her in this frock is painful. What hurts more, is the price tag $1,050. You couldn’t pay me to wear that disaster. The only thing saving her in this outfit is that she’s gorgeous. Everyone has bad days, so lets give Amber a break. On the other hand, if she had a stylist dress her, it’s time to find a new one!

Hello, I'm Adela Lewis aka singer songwriter Adelamonica. I am the founder, creative director, editor in chief and main writer for avenuesixty.com. First let me say, I myself cringe at some of the things I've written on this blog. It is completely embarrassing to realize how miserably I've been failing to hide the fact that I lack sophistication, and often times lack enlightenment. I wish I had never written half the things I've written on here, but I did write them. To be clear, I am just a regular person who enjoys writing. I refer to myself as "editor in chief" and "creative director" because, owning the blog as I do and being the one who creates and edits the content (except for content submitted by guest contributors), I feel that I have the freedom to do so. But I am not an editor and there is currently no staff that I oversee. Via this blog, I am contributing my personal thoughts and ideas and beliefs to everyday topics of discussion--at times topics on which I am not particularly well informed, but about which I might still have a point of view--much like most other people on the planet .
