An all brown look doesn’t get the same pass as an all black or an all white. But you can still get away with wearing all brown. You can even get away with it even if you don’t follow the above tip. But by following the above tip and wearing contrasting shades of brown, you can create some really interesting all brown ensembles.
With fall right around the corner, now is the time to start planning your looks for the earth colors season.
Here are some all brown outfit ideas we’ve put together to get you started…
In this look we pair a brown Gucci sweater with gold-brown Hudson skinny jeans. These two shades are at completely different ends of the brown color spectrum. They complement each other nicely.
For even more contrast we add a pair of tan leather riding boots from Sperry and a similarly colored tote bag from Michael Kors.
To finish the look we add a camel brown Linea long coat.

Suggestion: If wearing a dark brown top, pair with a khaki or other light brown bottom. If wearing a light brown top pair with a bottom in a darker shade of brown
Head to toe brown outfit idea #2
In look #2 we pair a cream brown Celine sweater with light brown suede leggings from Rick Owens. The leggings fall inside the tan, camel range.
Since we’re wearing leggings, brown leather knee high boots seemed like a fitting choice. We thought these Stella McCartney boots were perfect for the way they contrast with the Rick Owens leggings and also with the Celine sweater.
A brown wool tweed blazer from Etro and a brown Ralph Lauren bag complete the look with a Michael Kors watch and Gucci sunglasses thrown in to accessorize.

There are so many shades of brown that there is no reason for anyone to shy away from wearing a head to toe brown outfit.
You can wear head to toe brown without anyone even noticing that you’re wearing all brown. Some shades of brown aren’t even immediately thought of as brown. So if you love brown and want to wear all brown but you also want to avoid the critical eye of those who think wearing all brown is a fashion faux pas, take a page out of the style books of famous ladies such as Kate Middleton, Tyra Banks, Eva Longoria and Olivia Palermo (all have stepped out in head to toe brown). Make sure you aren’t wearing just one shade of brown all over.
You don’t necessarily have make every piece of our ensemble and different shade of brown from each other. Tyra Banks wore a brown dress with brown knee high boots where the dress and the boots were pretty much the same shade of brown. But she offset the look with accessories (belt and clutch purse) that were a different shade of brown from the dress and boots.
This look is based on Olivia Palermo’s all brown look from 2014 when she stepped out wearing a fringe suede skirt with a button front long sleeved shirt accessorized with a fringe clutch.
The look features a Tobacco brown leather ‘Mindy’ fringed skirt from P.A.R.O.S.H paired with an Isabel Marant Etoile Oversize Virgin Wool Turtleneck. The tan brown fringe clutch purse is from Burberry Prorsum. The shoes are a pair of Aquazzura Yasmin Cut-Out Suede Pumps in camel brown.
