Back in April I purchased some items of clothing at Amazon.com. One of the items I purchased was a fruit and flowers flared print skirt. The skirt is described on Amazon as a “High Quality Cotton + Spandex” skirt with a floral pattern, two open pockets and a concealed zipper.

Back when I received the skirt I was pleasantly surprised by the effort that went into the packaging. It was neatly folded and placed in a brand labeled zip top bag. The packaging made it seem like the skirt was of a higher quality than the price suggested. Of course I know that just because it was well packaged doesn’t make the skirt anything other than what it is. It’s a cheap skirt; but it’s a cute skirt. And it’s well enough made to be actually worn in public.

The thing I like best about this flared print skirt is its versatility. It can be worn with so many different color tops.

Here are some pics I took to illustrate how the skirt looks with a number of different colored tops.

The fruits and flowers flared print skirt with…

In this look I paired the skirt with a turquoise blue tank top and wore a peach shirt over the tank top.

With the red cowl neck long sleeved top…

This is a picture I took shortly after purchasing the skirt. The red, long-sleeved cowl-neck style top was purchased at the same time as the skirt with the intention of wearing the two together.

With a mustard yellow sleeveless top…

I love how the skirt looks with this thrift store purchased mustard yellow top. And I think the red watch finishes the look perfectly.

With an olive green shirt…

I’ve had this olive green shirt in my closet for so many years I’m embarrassed to say how many. But I’m not at liberty to throw things out or stop wearing them just because I’ve had them for a certain amount of time. Even a cheap top that I bought from Walmart years ago.

With the turquoise tank top by itself…

If you have a turquoise tank top but don’t have a peach over-shirt the skirt works with just the turquoise tank top. No peach over-shirt needed. Personally I would have to wear a shirt with sleeves over the tank top.

With a red tank top…

Here I’ve styled the skirt with a cute red tank top picked up from the thrift store. And in this last picture I’ve styled it with a different red tank top (the DAWGS tank featured here) worn under a yellow over-shirt.

So there you have some of my ideas for styling this fruits and flowers flared print skirt or a similar looking skirt. These looks are for laid back girls who generally take a quick and simple approach to style.

This skirt also looks great with a basic t-shirt. So you can wear it with a simple t-shirt in green, blue, peach, yellow, white, red and I’m sure other colors that haven’t occurred to me.

What do you think about the skirt? Would you wear it? If so, how would you style it?

Singer songwriter Adelamonica AKA Avenue Sixty editor in chief. Writing as Monica for The Monica Archives. Writing has always been one of my passions. In fact, when I was a teenager, I used to tell people they should remember my name, because I was going to become a famous author. I used to live to write and write to live--not in the sense of writing for income but writing to combat depression and to feel a sense of purpose. I've written novels, poems, articles and essays that I tried unsuccessfully to get published over many years starting in my teens. When I discovered blogging several ages ago, I turned to that avenue as a means of doing what I love without having to worry about publishers and their rejection letters. Modeling is also something I have always enjoyed and something I wanted very badly to do as a teenager. So badly that I used to lie and tell people I was a model. I would carry around a large portfolio style photo album and claim it was my modeling portfolio. But, as with my writing, the people with the power to make my modeling dreams come true saw nothing in me that made them stop me in the streets of New York to offer me a modeling contract with their agency. So when I discovered the ability to photograph my own self (before cell phones and selfies) I took up a hobby of pretend modeling at home and that hobby has remained with me throughout my life as a form of self expression and self therapy. I ask that you kindly excuse my lack of worldliness and any instances where I demonstrate lack of tact or lack of knowledge and even lack of basic intelligence in my writing and posing. I'm just here trying to have a little fun doing the things that make me happy. I'm just an average human for whom writing and posing and singing and dancing and the other things I do are ways I express myself and keep myself going on this ever challenging journey of life. I hope you will find something even remotely useful or interesting in the things I share.
